More Than a Finished Panel Surface

Aluminum composite material panels are manufactured from aluminum face sheets bonded to a core. On an exterior facade, the visible panels are only one part of the assembly. Panel support, attachment, drainage, ventilation, flashings, openings and transitions must be coordinated with the wall behind them.

The selected panel product, core, attachment method and supporting assembly must match the project requirements, manufacturer documentation and applicable design or code review. ARKSTRUX does not substitute website copy for project-specific specifications or engineering.

Panel Attachment and Layout Options

Route-and-Return Cassette Panels

ACM sheets are cut, routed and folded into cassettes with returned edges. The cassettes are attached to a coordinated rail or clip system, creating controlled joint lines and defined panel modules.

Face-Fastened Panel Systems

Panels are cut and installed with a visible or system-specific face-fastened attachment approach. The exact fastener, rail, joint and sealant strategy depends on the selected tested system and project details.

Projects seeking a direct panel expression or a more economical panel attachment approach while maintaining an intentional facade layout.

Project-Specific Feature Areas

ACM may also be considered for entrances, accent volumes, canopies, parapets and other defined facade areas. Each condition is reviewed for panel support, water management, thermal movement and connections to adjacent materials.

What Must Be Resolved Behind the Panel Layout

Substrate and Existing Conditions

The wall or supporting construction must be reviewed before the panel system is selected or laid out.

Water-Resistive and Air-Control Layers

Interfaces behind the cladding must remain continuous through openings, transitions and perimeter conditions.

Subframing and Attachment

Rails, clips, fasteners and spacing are selected according to the system, loads, substrate and project documentation.

Drained and Ventilated Cavity

Where the assembly uses a rainscreen approach, the cavity and openings must support the intended drainage and ventilation strategy.

Panel Cassettes or Sheets

Dimensions, joint widths, grain or finish direction, corner treatment and fabrication tolerances are coordinated before production.

Flashings and Transitions

Base, parapet, roof-to-wall, window, door, canopy and material-change details must direct water to the exterior.

ACM systems are quoted after the drawings, panel layout and site conditions are reviewed. A square-foot rate alone does not define the fabrication and installation scope.

  • Panel product, core, thickness, finish and colour
  • Subframing, substrate and wall-assembly requirements
